About Me

Personally:  I have been married to my sweet husband for over 30 years.  He is the one who convinced me to take a leap of faith with the idea of teaching overseas.  That was in 1993, and we have been on this great adventure of international teaching ever since.  We have lived and taught in Brasilia, San Salvador, Shanghai and Hong Kong.  In the fall of 2024, we will be moving to Hanoi, where Todd will teach science at Concordia International School Hanoi. We have two grown children who were born and grew up internationally.  They were true TCKs.  Both are back in the states at the moment, but our daughter is dreaming of heading out on her own overseas teaching adventure soon.

Professionally:  I have been teaching for 35 years.  I met my husband at my first school in Eastern Iowa.  A year after we got married, we moved to Brazil.  In my 27 years in international schools, and 8 years in private and public US schools, I have taught every math level and course from Grade 6 Math to AP Calculus AB.  I love math, and I love helping students achieve success in math.  I enjoy learning new ways to engage and interact with students to enhance their learning.  This has included integrating modelling, formative assessment activities, and technology into my classes.  I have coached several volleyball and softball teams through the years and have spent time in administrative roles as the dean of students and the academic coordinator.  I possess a wealth of educational knowledge and experience that I am eager to share with other secondary math teachers.
